WATERVILLE (AN COIREAN) THE LITTLE WHIRLPOOL

on the Wild Atlantic Way is the premier coastal tourist centre of South West Kerry. Waterville, famous for its sea trout and salmon angling, has a superb championship golf course, and is full of archaelogical wealth. These together with its great walking treks and its long sandy beaches, has attracted many famous celebrities down through the years including Charlie Chaplin and his family and Bob Hope. Waterville nestles between Lough Currane and Ballinskelligs Bay, where you will find mountains and lakeland with the added advantage of the sea on your doorstep.

The area offers various interesting routes for walking and hill-climbing or you can simply view the fabulous scenery from the comfort of your car. Waterville is rich in mythological and archaelogical associations with early Irish history. It is believed that the first Celtic invaders landed in Ballinskelligs Bay, coming ashore near Waterville. Sea and Shore Angling in the vicinity offer numerous species of fish such as Shark, Salmon, Trout and Pollack to name a few. Other activities available in the area include horse riding, cycling, boat trips and watersports.

Places worth visiting are The Skelligs, Derrynane House and Park, Church Island, a lovely walk along the promenade right across the road from us.

The hungry tourist is well serviced by the many and varied restaurants and cafes in Waterville.

The unique climate is aided by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and this enables you to enjoy the Waterville region all year round. Waterville is renowned for its game angling and it's 18 hole championship golf links but it also a paradise for the hill walker, cyclist, pony trekker, ornithologist, archaeologist, sea and shore angler, water sport enthusiast and indeed for the general holidaymaker.
